Article published in the “Journal of Clinical Oncology” on February 1, 2021 on the interim results of the FORUM study

A publication in the prestigious “Journal of Clinical Oncology” (To the article), prepared with the collaboration of researchers supported by CANSEARCH, reveals the interim results of the study entitled FORUM. The aim of the latter was to analyze whether chemotherapy preceding a bone marrow or hematopoietic stem cell transplant in the case of acute lymphoblastic leukemia in a child was not preferable to the radiation therapy that is commonly used, but which has numerous side effects. However, the study finally showed that, despite the good results obtained with chemotherapy, those obtained with radiotherapy remain better in terms of cure rate. Based on this observation, the CANSEARCH research platform is continuing this study by analyzing other factors, such as the pharmacokinetics of Busulfan linked to the genetics of the young patient. To date, the DNA of more than 300 patients has been sequenced in order to obtain results on these aspects in particular.
